This week’s destination took us to the quiet city of Lethbridge, a place that might not be the first to come to mind when thinking about innovation—but one that proved to be a surprising hub of advancement in immersive technologies.
At Lethbridge College’s Spatial Technologies Applied Research & Training (START) Center, we had the opportunity to explore cutting-edge developments in virtual reality, motion capture, and interactive education, all under one roof.
Zulushi, who led the visit and film crew, highlighted how refreshing it was to experience innovation outside traditional U.S. tech hubs.
“While most of our previous trips took us to major tech hubs in the USA—including San Francisco, Austin, and Pittsburgh—it was exciting to test out tech like the Infinadeck. These systems are incredibly advanced but also extremely costly, built for industrial or commercial environments rather than home use. What really stood out is how far the industry has come. Thanks to years of advancement, consumer products like the Virtuix Omni One now offer a surprisingly similar experience in terms of functionality and immersion—at just a fraction of the price.” — Zulushi

Coming from a VR gamer background, he also emphasized how important accessibility is for the technology’s growth.
“I love seeing VR get the recognition it deserves. We haven’t hit the tipping point yet, but accessibility is key to the development and progression of VR.”
Canada is emerging as a global hub for interactive digital media—and the START Center at Lethbridge College is one of the institutions leading that momentum.
It remains one of the few places in the country where students can study VR, motion capture, virtual production, and the real-world tools reshaping how games and digital experiences are created.
As Xparity continues building a platform that connects Canadian studios, creators, and game worlds, partnerships like this play a key role in strengthening the ecosystem.
They represent not only innovation, but the collaboration needed for Canada to stay at the forefront of immersive technology and digital entertainment.
